New York traffic meets in a handful of Manhattan buildings and a second cluster across the Hudson. 60 Hudson Street and 111 Eighth Avenue are old telephone and freight buildings turned carrier hotels; Equinix Secaucus and 165 Halsey Street in Newark carry much of the rest. An ISP proxy "in New York" is usually a server in one of these sites with an address that a New York provider registered.
| Building | Address | Networks present |
|---|---|---|
| 60 Hudson Street carrier hotel | 60 Hudson St, New York, NY | 162 |
| 111 Eighth Avenue | 111 8th Ave, New York, NY | 130 |
| Equinix Secaucus campus (NJ) | 800 Secaucus Road, Secaucus, NJ | 130 |
| Internet exchange | Networks connected |
|---|---|
| DE-CIX New York | 263 |
| NYIIX New York | 188 |
| Equinix New York | 103 |
PeeringDB counts are self-reported by networks; an exchange’s own member list can be longer.
The FCC National Broadband Map lists the share of New York homes where each provider reports service (December 2025 data). An ISP proxy shows the provider that registered its address, so these names tell you which networks look local in New York.
Ad buyers check that a campaign bought for the New York DMA shows the right creative, publishers test paywalls and regional editions, and retailers record what a Brooklyn or Manhattan shopper sees on a product page. A static IP keeps those checks comparable from one day to the next, because the site sees the same address every time.
The rules are in the acceptable use policy; online banking, government and payment portals are blocked on every IP.
5 of the 10 vendors we checked on October 19, 2026 name New York on an official US location page, none of them for an ISP product specifically. The city is what geolocation databases report for the address, and they can disagree. When the checkout lists an IP with a New York location, test it in two databases (our geolocation guide shows how); if a city-level check is critical, start with one IP before you rent ten.

It shows the provider that registered the address. In New York City the FCC map lists Verizon at 92.6% of homes and Spectrum at 65.2% (December 2025 data), so those two wired networks reach most homes in the city. The checkout shows the provider of each IP before you pay.
Yes, if the address is registered and geolocated to New York. Many servers that carry New York traffic sit in Secaucus or Newark, a few miles from Manhattan. Websites read the IP’s registration and geolocation, not the building’s street address.
